How we'd begin:
The relationship between a writer and an editor is personal--what could be more personal than writing?-- as well as professional.
For that reason, we'd begin either with an extensive correspondence or with a phone call so that we can get a sense of one another--to see if we're a good fit and can work well together. This correspondence/consultation is free. By the end of the process, I would hope that
• I understand what your hopes are for your writing or manuscript and for my work with it, and
• you understand the process I'll go through.
If we decide to proceed, we'll agree on how best to do that.
Work can be exchanged either electronically or by hard mail.
That said, please understand that this process (at the beginning or anywhere along the way) can be adapted--dramatically and substantially--to fit your needs.
